Students, faculty, and staff can create more accessible scanned PDF documents from UConn Xerox Printers.

Selecting OCR (Optical Character Recognition) for PDFs created at UConn printers converts typed or printed text into machine-encode text to be read by a screen reader and searched.

Step 1: Select email from the Xerox home page.

Step 2: After adding recipients, select file type by choosing the “.pdf” bubble

Step 3: Select “More” from the pop-up list.

Step 4: Under “Searchable”, select the “Yes” option.

Step 5: The document language can be changed from the “English” or “Current Language” bubble.

Step 6: Once done, select the “OK” bubble to save changes.
