AnyWare is a virtualized desktop environment hosted inside the UConn network. This means it can run programs, access your Q:\ and P:\ Drives, OneDrive, and access networked devices that are on the UConn network.

Accessing P and Q Drives

Use the File Explorer icon in the Task Bar.

Saving to your P: Drive in Anyware

Important Note: The P drive is a legacy service and is in the process of being discontinued. Faculty and Staff no longer have access to the P drive. Students still have access to the P drive until January 10, 2023. User data that once resided on the P drive will eventually be migrated to OneDrive. Please see below for info on using OneDrive in UConn Anyware.

  1. While in the program in which you would like to save your file, click Save As.

  2. Navigate to Computer > NetID (P:) or Save As > Computer > NetID (P:).

OneDrive

Users with and without a P drive can access OneDrive to download and save files.

Currently the OneDrive Sync Client does not function in UCONN Anyware.

In order to access and save files to OneDrive in UCONN Anyware you will have to use the browser interface in UCONN Anyware.

In your UCONN Anyware session open a browser and follow these instructions to access your data.

Files can be manually downloaded from OneDrive to your UConn Anyware session desktop, and then files can be manually saved back up to OneDrive.

ITS is currently working to make the OneDrive Sync client available in UCONN Anyware.

Once implemented, the OneDrive Sync client will create a OneDrive Sync folder that will be accessible in File Explorer in your UCONN Anyware session.

Saving to UCONN Anyware Desktop

Files can also be saved to specific folders in your UCONN Anyware session profile:

In File Explorer under “This PC” the Desktop and Documents locations are accessible and they are the recommended locations to store files if needed. The need usually arises due to an application requiring a dedicated file path in order to access application specific files.

Data saved in these locations will be available every time you log into UCONN Anyware.

Data saved to these locations are only accessible in UConn Anyware.

If you need to access to a copy of these files outside of Uconn Anyware then save a copy to another storage location that is accessible to you outside of Uconn Anyware.

Please Note that the “OneDrive” location in UCONN Anyware is currently not functional. As stated above currently OneDrive can only be accessed through a internet browser.

More Tools

Printing to Wepa printing locations is an option available from all Anyware Desktop sessions whether you are using an iPad, Android, Mac, Window client, or a web browser (Safari or Chrome).
