Information Technology Services (ITS) is upgrading the wireless service in the North Campus residence halls.  With the goal of providing students with the highest quality experience, ITS will be placing a small, current generation wireless access point in every other room to improve wireless connectivity for all rooms.to improve coverage and performance. All buildings, with the exception of Werth Tower and Northwood Apartments, have new equipment installed.

New Wireless Access Points

To improve the performance of wireless service, ITS is installing has installed new wireless access points in more rooms in the University's residence halls. Depending on the cabling infrastructure and the configuration of the rooms, this new equipment is installed in every room or every other room over an existing jack. The Each new wireless access points point looks like a small, white box, as shown in the image below. It has been installed over the existing jack.

Note

If your room has a new access point installed, the the ports on the old jack may be blocked. This is deliberate, and is meant to prevent further use of the old jack.
