This article is intended for instructors looking to upload Scantron (or bubble sheet) grades into HuskyCT Ultra Course View.

Preparing your Scantron File

The instructor's whose NetID appears on the Instructor sheet will receive an email containing a ZIP file which has the grades in a CSV file. The grades are listed by PeopleSoft or Student ID number.

  1. Save the ZIP file from the email to a location on your computer.

  2. Extract the ZIP file, and save the file to a location on your computer.

  3. Navigate to https://scantronconverter.uconn.edu/ in a web browser.

    1. Click Choose File

    2. Locate the file named ExamGrades.CSV on your computer.

    3. Click Submit

  4. A new file, titled converted_scantron.csv will be generated.

  5. Save this file to your computer.

  6. The file will contain five columns, remove the Student Name, Student ID, and the score column you don’t want to use. You should be left with only the Username and one of two score columns, either Raw Score or Percent Score.

Uploading the CSV File to HuskyCT

Option 1: Creating a New Gradebook Item

  1. In the converted_scantron.csv file you just created, rename the score column to the desired Gradebook Item name, this is the name that will appear in HuskyCT.

  2. Save the file

  3. Navigate to your course in HuskyCT.

  4. Click the Gradebook tab on the top navigation menu.

  5. In the upper right hand corner of the Gradebook, click the Upload Icon.

  6. A new window will appear on the right titled Upload Gradebook.

  7. Under Browse Files, click Upload Local File.

  8. Select the convert_scantron.csv from Step 1.

  9. Verify the information, and click Upload.

  10. An item with the name of the score column will be created and the grades will be populated.

  11. Located the Gradebook item, verify all the grades are correct, and click Post all Grade when you want students to be able to view the scores

Option 2: Uploading Grades to an existing Gradebook Item

Warning

This will overwrite any grades currently in this Item.

  1. Navigate to your course in

  1. Husky CT.

  2. Click the Gradebook tab on the top navigation menu.

  3. In the upper right hand corner of the Gradebook, click the Download Icon.

  4. A new window titled Download Gradebook will appear on the right hand of the screen.

    1. Under Data, check Select Columns, and select the column you will want to upload grades to.

    2. Under File Type, check Comma (CSV).

    3. Under Save Location, check My Device.

  5. Click Download.

  6. The file will be downloaded to your computer.

  7. Locate and open the file.

  8. Find the Gradebook item that is the column you want to upload grades to.

  9. Copy the column name exactly as it appears.

  10. Open the converted_scantron.csv file.

  11. Replace the existing score column name with the Gradebook item name you just copied. The name and ID must be exact for HuskyCT to recognize they are the same column.

  12. Save the converted_scantron.csv file.

  13. Navigate back to HuskyCT, and in the Gradebook, click the Upload Icon.

  14. A new window will appear on the right hand of the screen titled Upload Gradebook.

  15. Under Browse Files, click Upload Local File.

  16. Selected the converted_scantron.csv from Step 12.

  17. Verify the information is correct, and click Upload.

  18. The grades will be populated to the Gradebook item that was designed in the file.

  19. When you are ready for students to be able to view their grades, click Post All Grades.
