    1. Class Conflicts

      1. Students with a conflict that prevents them from registering for the UCMB should register for the conflicting academic courses FIRST.

      2. All pertinent course overlap information will be collected in the band office and submitted to the Registrar on the first day of classes. All UCMB members with course overlaps will be enrolled in MUSI 1108-001 (Marching Band) at that time. Students should contact ucmb.office@gmail.com with any questions, or to withdraw a conflict form in the event of a schedule change.

      3. Rehearsal conflict information will be collected via a Google form that students are expected to submit in a timely manner. Submission of the Google form does not guarantee an excused absence. Directors will review all conflict forms and will follow up with individual cases as needed. Students are expected to make every effort to schedule classes and other activities around UCMB participation

      4. UCMB Handbook outlines attendance policy

        1. “All members are expected to attend and participate fully and positively in and throughout all rehearsals and performances. Failure to do so may result in loss or adjustment of performance privilege, reduction of grade, or dismissal from the band.”

        2. “Class Conflicts: Missing rehearsal may preclude membership as a performer. Accommodation for class conflict may be granted after review on a case-by-case basis. In the event of required courses that cannot be scheduled outside band rehearsal times, evidence of the need to schedule a course during band times is verifying that the course is required and only offered at a particular time. Class conflicts must be submitted and approved in advance by band directors.

    2. Individual Absences for rehearsals

      2. UCMB Handbook policies:

        1. Students Needing Accommodations: Students may request an accommodation through the Center for Students with Disabilities (“CSD”).

        2. Critical Family Emergency or Event: Absence due to death or serious illness of a family member or a significant family event such as marriage of a sibling must be properly documented with a UCMB Conflict Form.

        3. Acute Illness or Injury: Illness or injury that prevents participation for a given time period must be properly documented with a UCMB Conflict Form.

        4. Significant Religious Holidays

        5. Note: Birthdays, concert (orth other event) tickets, high school events/reunions, friend’s visits, Greek Life Events, social occasions, and other absences of this nature are generally not excusable.

    3. Individual Absences for performances

      1. Performance conflicts must be submitted using a written conflict form, and must be brought to the directors in person for approval. Hard copies can be found on the band bulletin board or in the band office. Downloadable Word and PDF versions are available via the band’s HuskyCT class.

      2. Performance conflict forms must be submitted in a timely manner in order to obtain director approval and to allow enough time for DM Coordinators to arrange a designated marcher to cover the position.

      3. UCMB Handbook policies apply.
