1. Go to the Information Technology Knowledge Base homepage.

2. Click the login button in the upper navigation bar.

3. Enter your NetID and password.

4. The Knowledge Base is divided into Spaces within Confluence; Spaces help manage large numbers of guides. The spaces are not exclusive from to one another; you may link to other spaces.
   After you log in, you may be taken to a the main page for Confluence instead of your Space. If this happens,

   1. Click Spaces in the upper navigation.

   2. Select View all spaces if you do not see yours listed.

   3. Enter [your Space name] in the search/filter field.

   4. You are now on the homepage for your Space. Navigate the space using either the page tree or search box.

1. There are two ways to create a new page using the Parent page:

   1. Navigate to the Parent page.

      1. Click on the blue Create button at the center-top of the window.

   2. Find your Parent page in the page hierarchy.

      1. Hover your cursor over the list item and click on the + (plus) button.

2. Before you begin typing, chose choose the appropriate template in the right-hand toolbar.
   If necessary, use the searchbar search bar within this toolbar.

3. The How-to article is a great starting point for KB guides. 

   1. Choosing a template does not restrict any editing tools, it simply starts you off with ITS required elements on the page.

4. Begin documenting your topic! Remember to reach . Reach out to ITKB@uconn.edu with any questions!.

Editing Articles

Editors are invited to also edit pre-existing articles where they see fit. If you are on a page and can improve the information provided, please feel free to edit the page. 

1. Click the login button in the upper navigation bar.

2. Enter your NetID and password.

3. Navigate to the page you wish to revise. Click on the edit pencil icon in icon in the upper-right navigation.

4. Enter your changes using the text editor tools.

5. Click the blue Publish button in the bottom right corner of the screen. Your changes will then be live.

6. To view your page within our applied theme, click on  Refined in the top-center of the window. Chose Choose to View in Refined.

7. In the new browser tab, you will see the live page as it appears to the public.

8. Close the tab to return to the editor view.
