Latitude 7400 and XPS 7390

Steps 1-9 should be done before an appointment with a user.

  1. Verify the computer is slated to go to the appropriate person in Active Directory. This is required to be done pre-deployment. If not, correct or submit ticket if needed.
  2. Use USB-C adapter to connect to Ethernet
  3. Login as netid admin
  4. Prevent the computer from sleeping so it stays awake on AC power so it gets all policies.
  5. Download and install the following driver: \\uconn\efs\Stamford\TSG\Install\Drivers\Latitude 7400\Audio\Realtek-High-Definition-Audio-Driver_FCPP2_WIN_6.0.8838.1_A09.exe for Latitude if needed, XPS users can skip this step
  6. Connect to UConn Secure
  7. Do a gpupdate /force
  8. Verify the user is an admin, add them if not.
  9. If possible, leave computer on overnight to get software/policies (optional, not required)
  10. Open the start menu, type Notepad > Open File Location > Shift + Right Click Notepad and run as different user
  11. Have the user login with their NETID, this will cache their profile.
  12. Restart and have the user login
  13. Assist with user requested customization as needed.
  14. Recommend at a minimum, signing into outlook, one drive, adding P and Q drives.
