NOTE: These instructions work as of 9/5/2019.
ITS print services do not support Mac OS X. Copiers must be manaully added. Xerox recommends doing so under LPD. See below for instructions.
Note that printer connections are profile specfic, whatever changes you make must be done on the user's account. Shared Mac computers should be avoided when possible. If a shared Mac is needed, recommend each user contact individually to setup printers.
Download the latest version of the Xerox built-in controller driver. Note this is the only driver option for Mac OS X.
When installing the driver, do not add printers over the network, if you have no choice to, install it and then remove it. We will add them manually.
In settings > printers add a new printer. Click on the + arrow to add a new printer.
Select IP and fill in the information.
Address: recommend DNS name but IP address will work too.
Protocol: Line Printer Daemon - LPD
Queue: blank as default will work.
Be sure to name the copier and specifcy location.
For the driver to use, find the appropriate Xerox driver.
Upon completing the above, and going to print. It will have a problem with bi-directional communication and will claim that it is out of paper, at least with this version of Mac OS. If you ignroe these messages, it has printed. However it will first prompt for an accounting id tab. You can put ANYTHING in however the mandatory field is the one in the top left and it can be 1 character but NOT a space. Once this is done, it will prompt every time but if the user hits enter, it will ignore this message. The CBS tech stated that accounting issues with Apple devices are known.
