Students, staff, and faculty will be able to find can locate their Mac computer's system information. The “About This Mac” feature helps you find important information about your Mac. 

Checking Mac System Information

To find your Mac's system information, you will need to access the About This Mac feature. To do so,

  1. Click the Apple logo in the upper left hand corner of your desktop.
  2. In the drop-down menu, click About This MacYou can find the . The following information will then appear:
    • Version number and name of macOS / OS X installed on your computer
    • Model of your computer
    • General date of when  when the model was released
    • Processor type
    • Memory amount
    • Graphics card information
    • Serial Number
  3. Access software updates by pressing Press the Software Update button to access software updates On the “Display” tab you can
  4. Click the Display tab to access the basic information regarding your display. These include , like screen size and the resolution of the graphics card. You can also select 
  5. Select Display Preferences to the change basic settings of your display.
  6. On the “Storage” tab you can Click the Storage tab to access basic information regarding your hard drive and any external media connected to your computer, like capacity, partitions and amount of free space.
