Reinstall the Application: Mac Users That Can't Run Kaltura Capture

This section is intended for students, faculty, and staff using a Mac and cannot run Kaltura Capture. Mac users may receive a message that there is less than 1GB of memory and it cannot run.

The user needs to uninstall the application completely including all Kaltura Capture related files. It can be done by performing the steps below:

Reinstall the Application

  1. Uninstall the application itself by moving its icon to Trash (on Mac OS).
  2. Remove Kaltura folder from the following location: Mac OS: /Users/<username>/Library/Preferences/Kaltura (if you don't see the Library folder, press Command+Shift+Period to show hidden files/folders).
  3. Restart the computer and install the latest application version.
  4. Go to System Preferences->Security & Privacy->Privacy tab->Screen Recording and verify that Kaltura Capture is enabled.
  5. Reboot the computer
  6. Start Kaltura Capture and test if you can record.


Manually Upload Videos That Aren't Uploading to Kaltura or Not Processing in Kaltura

This section is intended for students, faculty, and staff when the video in Kaltura Capture doesn't upload or process on the Kaltura server.  This is only applicable when you recorded just the webcam or the desktop, but not both.

Windows: The user needs to check the local copy of the video to ensure it's not corrupted and then needs to manually upload it to Kaltura.  If the video is corrupted, they will need to re-record the video.  It can be done by performing the steps below:

  1. Press Win+R to open up the Run window and type '%localappdata%'.

  2. Open Kaltura > Capture > Recordings.
  3. The file names are not descriptive. You will need to rely on the date modified to determine which video you need to re-upload.
  4. Find the .mp4 video that relates to your recording and navigate to https://kaltura.uconn.edu/my-media. Log in with your NetID.
  5. Choose "Add New>Media Upload"

  6. You will be able to rename it as it's uploading. Once finished, you will see a green banner telling you the upload is complete. The video will now process and you can close the window.

  1. Open Finder, hold the option key on your keyboard and click Go from the top bar, then select Library.

  2. From the Library folder, navigate to Preferences>Kaltura>Capture>Recordings
  3. The file names are not descriptive. You will need to rely on date modified to determine which video you need to re-upload.
  4. Find the .mp4 video that relates to your recording and navigate to https://kaltura.uconn.edu/my-media. Login with your NetID.
  5. Choose "Add New>Media Upload"

  6. Drag the .mp4 file previously located onto the browser window to begin uploading.
