An update on post doc renewals regarding when approval is needed, and what we should be looking for:

  • Upon reappointment:

    • All post docs must be renewed with a 3% increase or to the next level minimums, whichever is greater

    • If a PI is looking to pay more than the above at the time of reappointment, approval is required with proper justification

  • If a post doc is being hired for more than a five year term, approval is required

Approval currently resides with Kristen Brierley and Kent Holsinger, so please email Melissa first with the information for the employee

*If a Post Doc is not being renewed, it is University practice to provide at least a 30 day notice in writing of non-renewals*

Question:

Should departments notify you of non-standard Postdoc appointments due to visa issues?

Answer:

Departments still should come through Kristen Brierley for approval of a non-standard appointment even if the issue relates to their visa.
