BIOS Settings: Configuring a Dell Computer for Re-imaging and deployment in BIOS
Considerations in the OS for existing computers:
If possible, make sure the computer is in Active Directory in the appropriate OU
We used to have a tag STAM- in front of our computer names in the past. Make sure that the computer is either re-named before imaging or a new AD object with just the serial number of the machine is present.
If you need to find out what the serial number is of a machine you can do so through the Operating System by going to PowerShell and typing in the following line: Get-WmiObject -Class Win32_BIOS and taking note of the computer's serial number.
Booting to PXE:
Hit F12 to select boot menu
Boot to IPv4
The computer should connect to ITS' WDS server, download and boot to a WINPE Boot File
The boot file will be password protected. Once the password is typed in, an imaging menu of a few choices will come up. The choice you should select is going to be listed to get UIU, Bitlocker, Office. The current task sequence is called ITS_MW_WIN10_1903.
Post-imaging
It is recommended to keep a computer on overnight to ensure it gets group policy and software. Computers are re-imaged with base windows and SCCM pushes out software to appropriate computers. Coordinate any special software that needs to be installed via a ticket.
