Mediated Printing
How to Start a 3D Printing Project
To get started, prepare your design using 3D Modeling software. If you are an engineering student, you have access to SolidWorks through the Engineering Department. If you are not an engineering student, we recommend TinkerCad to get started. If you have an idea in mind and aren't interested in creating your own design, there are thousands of free designs available on Thingiverse ranging from toothpaste tube squeezers to custom breadboard creations.
Once you have your prepared file, export it as an .stl or a .zip and fill out the 3D Print Form on the UConn Library Maker Studio page to send your design to our technicians for review. You will then receive a confirmation of receipt and will be contacted with questions about your print request and an expected date for completion. Please refer to the Maker Studio hours posted on the UConn Library Maker Studio page.
