There is a direct relationship between the Units Taken and Earned fields based on the associated grade of that particular course.

Units Taken

Units Earned

Definition

Synonymous with Attempted Credits; the student started the course.

The student completed the course with a passing grade.

Associated Grades

Include:

  • A+ – D-

  • F(ailure)

  • W(ithdrawal)

  • S(atisfactory)

  • U(nsatisfactory)

  • R(egistered) (Graduate Students only grade)

  • P(ass)

  • Repeat Forgiveness

  • Temporary Grades

    • N (No basis for grade)

    • I (Incomplete grade)

    • X (Final assessment absence)

Include:

  • A+ – D-

  • S(atisfactory)

  • P(ass)

Note: Blank grades represent In Progress courses where the student is currently enrolled but has yet to be graded.

Does not include:

  • F(ailure)

  • W(ithdrawal)

  • U(nsatisfactory)

      1. Value: 0

      2. Explanation: represents the courses that the student passed for Graded Units for GPA (excludes Repeat Forgiveness and W courses); the student did not pass any courses.

    3. Term Units Audited:

      1. Value: 0

      2. Explanation: the student did not audit any courses

    4. Term Units Transfer Credit

      1. Value: 6

      2. Explanation: the student transferred in 6 credits

    5. Term Units Test Credit

      1. Value: 4

      2. Explanation: the student transferred in 4 credits

  2. Cumulative Statistics: the value in each of the respective “Cumulative” fields represents the sum of the corresponding “Term” field across multiple terms.

      1. Value: Sum of Term Units Taken Towards Academic Load

      2. Explanation: comprises of the cumulative sum of Graded Units For GPA + Graded Units Not for GPA (includes Repeat Forgiveness and W courses)

    2. Cumulative Total Units Earned Towards Academic Load:

      1. Value: Sum of Term Units Earned Towards Academic Load

      2. Explanation: represents the courses that the student passed for Graded Units for GPA (excludes Repeat Forgiveness and W courses)

    3. Cumulative Units Audited: Sum of Term Units Audited

    4. Cumulative Units Transfer Credit: Sum of Term Units Transfer Credit

    5. Cumulative Units Test Credit: Sum of Term Units Test Credit

  1. Transferred Credits:  The student transferred in 6 credits.

      2. Explanation:  Regardless of the grade, the student attempted these courses.

    2. Earned:

      1. Value:  6

      2. Explanation:  The student earned a passing grade for each course

  2. Test Credits

    1. Taken: 

      1. Value:  4

      2. Explanation:  Regardless of the grade, the student attempted the test for the course.

    2. Earned:

      1. Value:  4

      2. Explanation:  The student earned a passing test grade

  3. UConn work

    1. Taken:

      1. Semester

        1. Value:  15

        2. Explanation:  Regardless of the grades (including F and W), the student attempted these courses.

        3. Note:  Repeat Forgiveness:  The course indicates that the student took the course again in a subsequent term; however, the credits count toward Attempted Credits.

      2. Cumulative:

        1. Value:  25 = 6 attempted transferred credits, 4 attempted test credits, 15 attempted UConn credits

    2. Earned:

      1. Semester

        1. Value:  0

        2. Explanation:  The student did not earn any passing grades (including F and W); therefore, no credits have been earned on these courses

        3. Note:  Repeat Forgiveness:  The course indicates that the student took the course again in a subsequent term; the credits do not count toward earned credits in this term regardless of the grade associated with the course in this term.

        1. Value:  10 = 6 transferred credits, 4 test credits, 0 earned UConn credits

        1. Value:  0

        2. Explanation:  Because these courses are "In Progress", no credits have been earned on these courses.
