Creating an Outline on Gradescope

Creating an Outline on Gradescope

When creating a Homework/Problem or Exam/Quiz Assignment on Gradescope, instructors will be promoted to create an outline. The Outline will provide instructors with an efficient way of grading as each question within the assignment will be identified.

Within the outline, instructors will use Regions to define an area on the assignment for Gradescope to identify student identification, questions, and responses. Identifying these locations allows for Gradescope to assist with auto-matching submissions to students along with detecting questions for grading.

An outline is only needed with the Homework/Problem and Exam/Quiz sets on Gradescope. Bubble Sheets do not have outlines.

It is recommended to create a region slightly larger than the actual area expected for student use.

Creating an Outline:

  1. After creating the initial Gradescope Assignment, instructors will be brought back to their HuskyCT Course Content page. Click the Gradescope Assignment link.

  2. Identify the Name and ID Region by clicking on Edit Name Region and Edit ID Region.
