Adopting Perusall eTextbooks

Adopting Perusall eTextbooks

This article will guide instructors through how to adopt Perusall eTextbooks within their HuskyCT Courses and Classes.

Overview:

Perusall is a social annotation tool that allows students to engage with course content, classmates, and instructor(s). Instructors can use Perusall to provide readings, videos, and audio content that motivate students to actively engage with materials.

Adopting a Perusall Textbook with the UConn Bookstore:

  1. First, locate the textbook you wish to implement within your course from Perusall’s Library.

  2. Email the following information to your campus Bookstore and Perusall Support.

-Bookstore Contact:

 3. Once course material is available, students will receive an email from the bookstore with their access codes. Students can follow these instructions to access their eTextbook.

Timelines:

Perusall textbook access codes are sent to students manually from the bookstore. Instructors must notify the bookstore within a timely manner to ensure Perusall access codes are provided to students. We recommend notifying the bookstore using the deadlines below to avoid any delays:

Summer Sessions: Order by February 15th

Fall Semester: Order by April 1st

Spring Semester: Order by October 1st

Helpful Information:
-To avoid delays, email students as soon as possible to let them know the ordering process. We recommend students purchasing their Perusall access as soon as possible.

-Student accounts are automatically created when students access Perusall through the HuskyCT Link.

-Set up free access to your textbook if offered by the publisher: Many publishers provide 14 days of free access in Perusall. To do so, navigate to your Perusall course Library. Select your textbook, then locate the green ‘set it up now’ button. From here, you can enable the free access period.
