VoiceThread Overview for Students

Overview

VoiceThread is a virtual tool that allows students and instructors to have human to human interactions within an educational environment. VoiceThread users can interact with classmates and instructors through many different modalities, such as text, audio, and video.

VoiceThread has three comment types

-Create: Students will create their own VoiceThread using video, images, documents, or presentations.

-Comment: Students are required to make comments throughout a VoiceThread.

-Watch: Students are required to watch or listen to a VoiceThread in its entirety.

Helpful Tips for Students:

  • Requirements for Submitting: Requirements are created and set by the VoiceThread creator. Students should read the directions provided by their instructor to ensure they are completing the requirements of the VT assignment. Students will not be able to submit the VT assignment until all requirements are met.

  • Deadlines: Due dates for VoiceThread assignments vary. If you instructor has two components assigned within a VT assignment (Ex. 2 comments, 1 slide creation) there may be two separate due dates. Checking the syllabus or with your instructor may be helpful to avoid any confusion.

  • Grading: Contact your instructor or review the syllabus for grading information.

  • Browser Requirements: VoiceThread is supported within Google Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Opera, and Brave. Internet Explorer is not supported. For the best experience, it is recommended to use a computer when completing VT assignments.
