Using the ITS High-Speed Scanner
ITS provides a high-speed scanner in Homer Babbidge Library. The scanner allows for quick, high-quality, and efficient self-service scanning.
While the scanner is meant for use with Gradescope bubble sheet exams, it can also be used for general-purpose scanning by anyone with an active UConn email.
You do not need to use the ITS scanner for Gradescope. You can use your own scanner in your office. If your scanner provides an option, you should select grayscale over color or black and white. Gradescope scans should be saved as a PDF.
Instructions
Place your documents in a neat stack on the scanner feeder with the text facing up toward you.
Log into the computer next to the scanner with your UConn email and password.
The scanning software will open automatically. If it does not open, find and run NAPS2 from the Start menu.
Select your scan profile. The default is a single-sided Gradescope exam. You can change the profile or other settings (color/grayscale, resolution, etc.) Do not change the optional settings if you are scanning a Gradescope exam, otherwise you may have issues during the grading process.
Click Scan.
Wait for the scan to complete.
When complete, you can modify the scan if desired. You can delete, rotate, and move pages. Save the scan as a PDF. Be sure to upload your file to OneDrive, a thumb drive, or somewhere else once it is saved. Files stored locally on the computer may not be saved.
Take your documents from the scanner.
Log out of the computer.
