Using the Collaborate Course Room
This page will guide instructors on the features and settings of the Class Collaborate Course Room on HuskyCT.
Using the Course Room
First, navigate to your Class Collaborate Course Room. By clicking on Course room, you will be brought directly into the Course Room.
Once in the Course Room, a message will appear in the right hand corner asking to record. To allow recording, click Record.
A new message will appear notifying the session is being recorded. Additionally, a small video icon will appear in the left hand corner.
To locate the Session Menu, click on the menu icon in the upper left hand corner.
From the Course Room Session Menu, instructors can stop recording, dial in to the meeting, and locate Class Collaborate support features. Instructors can also locate the ‘Start Recording’ option from this menu.
Class Collaborate Icon Key
Located at the bottom of the screen are four icons.
a. Profile: Instructors can set their status to away or available, leave the session, adjust their settings, and provide feedback.
b. Audio: Share or mute audio
c. Video: Instructors can share video by clicking the video icon. A preview video will appear. Click Share Video.
d. Hand Raising: Instructors and students can utilize this button to raise their hand to signal they wish to participate.
e. Data Visualization Panel: View session engagement insights such as percentage of attendees interacting by raised hands and messages within the chat.
f. Collaboration Panel: By clicking the purple button, instructors can open the session panel. This panel provides access to the chat box, attendee list, share content, and settings.
Collaborate Panel Details
Instructors can locate the Collaborate Panel by clicking the purple menu from within the Course Room.
Within the Collaborate Panel, instructors can locate details regarding their Course Room.
Chat- Instructors can start and respond to chats from everyone or just moderators. Additionally, instructors can search for specific members within the chat.
Attendance: By selecting the person icon, instructors can view the attendees, mute all participants, and make an attendee a captioner.
Share content: Instructors can share a variety of displays and tools.
Share Application/Screen: Share screen if you will be showing more than one application at a time. Share Application if you are only sharing one application (that application must be running for you to select it).
Share Whiteboard: You can use a tablet to write on the Whiteboard, but you cannot use an iPad. If that is what you have, you need to use WebEx.
Share Files: You can share a PowerPoint, PDF, or Image. Once shared, you can annotate them.
Polling: Questions are asked on the fly and cannot be saved.
Breakout Groups: Randomly assigned is the best way to create the groups, unless you have a smaller class and have the time to drag/drop students into the groups. These can be used for Think/Pair/Share activities.
Settings: Additional settings can be configured through the gear icon. Adjust your audio and video, notification, and session settings.
