Use Teams in Nexus Appointments

Use Teams in Nexus Appointments

Faculty and staff can follow this guide to create a connection between their Nexus appointments and Microsoft Teams. This guide will show you how to create a link that can be shared anywhere, but specifically how to use it with appointments in Nexus.

ITS collaborated with Microsoft to confirm this use case of Teams and our internal Nexus program.

Create your Teams “virtual office” link

You can share a link that can be used by anyone at the university to reach you through Teams. This link should be posted in your Nexus profile so that it is included in your appointments.

Highlight the following link and Copy it: https://teams.microsoft.com/l/call/0/0?users=

When you paste your link, as shown later in this guide, you will add your published UConn email address to the end.

What does this link do?

When someone clicks on your link, they initiate a Teams call with you. Therefore, the caller needs to have a Microsoft account (all UConn members who have an email inbox are able to place calls). This is a full Teams call with all the capabilities of a Teams Meeting including a Chat that is private between you and the caller. This Chat will persist after your call and will be reused if they call you again, or if you call them.

When receiving an incoming call, you may answer with your camera on, camera off, or deny the call.

Update your “virtual office” link in Nexus

  1. Visit nexus.uconn.edu
Note: the hyperlinked text above should bring you directly to the “virtual office” setup page. If it does, skip to Step 5 below.
If it does not bring you directly to the page, continue below.

  2. Select “Log In” and then “Faculty/Staff Hub”.

  3. Select “Settings” in the top toolbar.

  4. Click on “Virtual Office Link”.

  5. Paste in your copied text and add your published UConn email address to the end.
Example: If your email address is jonathan.husky@uconn.edu, your link will be: https://teams.microsoft.com/l/call/0/0?users=jonathan.husky@uconn.edu

  6. Select “Update” when you are done.
