Wi-Fi in Gampel Pavilion

Wi-Fi in Gampel Pavilion

Patrons

Two Wi-Fi networks are provided by UConn for patrons attending events within Gampel Pavilion.

#GOHUSKIES-GUEST

GoHuskies-Legacy-Guest

#GOHUSKIES-GUEST

GoHuskies-Legacy-Guest

  • Intended for patrons within Gampel using devices made since ~2020

  • Supports 5GHz and 6GHz frequencies for best performance

  • Uses OWE encryption

  • Intended for patrons within Gampel who are using devices made before ~2020

  • For devices that cannot connect to #GOHUSKIES-GUEST

  • Supports the 5GHz frequency only

  • Does not provide encryption

After connecting to the guest network, a captive portal prompting you to accept the UConn Acceptable Use Policy will appear either in a new window or upon browsing to a Web page in your browser. Select “Yes, I agree” to accept the Acceptable Use Policy and you will be granted Internet access.

This access will be maintained as long as your device remains connected to the network. If your device disconnects from the network for longer than two hours (such as if it is turned off or leaves campus), the captive portal will expire and you will need to reconnect to the network and accept the Acceptable Use Policy again to restore access.

Other Wi-Fi networks seen in the Gampel bowl are not intended for patrons to use. These include PACIOLAN, UCONN-SECURE, UCONN-SECURE-5GHz, UCONN-SECURE-6GHz, UCONN-GUEST, and eduroam.

Faculty and Staff

Two Wi-Fi networks are provided for faculty and staff to use in “back of house” areas (i.e. offices, support spaces, etc.) within Gampel Pavilion.

UCONN-SECURE-6GHz

UCONN-SECURE-5GHz

UCONN-SECURE-6GHz

UCONN-SECURE-5GHz

  • The preferred version of UCONN-SECURE

  • Uses the 6GHz frequency for best performance

  • Uses WPA3 encryption for best security

  • Supported by most devices made since ~2023

  • Alternate version of UCONN-SECURE

  • Uses the 5GHz frequency

  • Uses WPA2 encryption

  • For use by devices made before ~2023 that cannot connect to UCONN-SECURE-6GHz

Similar to UCONN-SECURE campus wide, these networks allow access to internal UConn resources such as campus printers and servers that are not accessible from off campus or the guest networks.

The UCONN-SECURE networks are not available in the bowl itself. Please use #GOHUSKIES-GUEST or GoHuskies-Legacy-Guest in the bowl.

Vendors

Vendors that only require access to the Internet for general use on phones, laptops, or tablets should follow the Patron instructions.

Paciolan ticket scanners and Square Point of Sale devices should connect to the “PACIOLAN” Wi-Fi network. Information on how to connect can be provided by UConn staff on site during an event or in advance by contacting the Technology Support Center.

Troubleshooting

  • If you experience connection issues in the bowl within Gampel, please ensure that you are using #GOHUSKIES-GUEST or GoHuskies-Legacy-Guest as those are the only wireless networks available in the Gampel bowl area. UCONN-SECURE and PACIOLAN wireless networks are not intended for use within the Gampel bowl area.

  • If a device is unable to connect to the network:

    • Devices that do not support the #GOHUSKIES-GUEST network may still see it in the list of available networks. If you attempt to connect to #GOHUSKIES-GUEST and are unsuccessful, please try connecting to GoHuskies-Legacy-Guest.

    • If you still cannot connect to #GOHUSKIES-GUEST or GoHuskies-Legacy-Guest,

      • Forget all Gampel Wi-Fi networks (#GOHUSKIES-GUEST, GoHuskies-Legacy-Guest, UCONN-SECURE-6GHz, and UCONN-SECURE-5GHz).

        • For detailed instructions on how to forget a network, please click here.

      • Try to connect to #GOHUSKIES-GUEST or GoHuskies-Legacy-Guest.

    • Disable any personal hotspots on your devices.

    • Reboot your personal device and connect to the network.

  • During basketball events at Gampel, there will be UConn staff on site who can provide technical support to get devices onto the network.
