Lost or Stolen UConn Device
This article provides the steps users should complete if their UConn-owned computing device has been stolen or lost.
These instructions do not apply to devices owned or managed by UConn Health. Users of UConn Health devices should follow Health Center procedures.
Stolen UConn Device
University policy requires that the theft of university property be immediately reported to the police.
Contact the local police department and file a police report. If the theft occurred on campus, contact the UConn Police and file a police report with the UConn Police. If the theft occurred off campus, contact the police department that serves that area.
Get a copy of the police report and case number for your recordsNotify ITS via the Lost/Stolen Device Ticket
Provide as much information as possible about the device, including the serial number or asset tag if known and a description of the circumstances in which the device was stolen.
Notify Inventory Control via an Accountability (C-1) form
You must notify Inventory Control within five days of discovering the theft.
Lost UConn Device
You are required to report lost devices to ITS and Inventory Control.
Notify ITS via the Lost/Stolen Device Ticket
Provide as much information as possible about the device, including the serial number or asset tag if known and a description of the circumstances in which the device was lost.
Notify Inventory Control via an Accountability (C-1) form
You must notify Inventory Control within five days of discovering that your device has been lost.
