Transferring and Delegating Sponsored Accounts

Transferring and Delegating Sponsored Accounts

Accounts created through the Account Sponsorship Application (ASA) are required to have a sponsor, or someone who is in charge of maintaining its active status and its relevant data points. Accounts can also have delegates, which allow another employee to take action on behalf of the sponsor in their absence. Sponsors can transfer ownership and delegate access to their accounts through the ASA. To learn more about account sponsorship, see https://uconn.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/IKB/pages/10785227446. To learn how to sponsor an account, see https://uconn.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/IKB/pages/10785227625.

Accessing the Account Sponsorship Application (ASA)

  1. Navigate and log in to netid.uconn.edu.

  2. Once you have logged in, click the link in the main navigation bar for Account Sponsorship. You may be prompted to accept another Duo 2FA prompt.

Transfer an account

This process is to be completed by the person who is the current sponsor of the account.

The Account Sponsorship Application allows for the sponsorship of an account to be transferred to other eligible employees. If you are currently sponsoring an account but are moving to a role where you are no longer responsible for the person, you may transfer the account to another individual. The recipient of the account must approve the transfer before the process is complete. They will be notified by email that they have an account pending transfer to them.

  1. Select the account type you wish to edit.

  2. Select the checkbox(es) next to the account(s) you wish to modify and click the orange Transfer button.

  3. In the new dialog box, enter the NetID of the person you want to transfer the account to. Click Confirm.

  4. To complete the transfer, the new sponsor must accept the transfer (see the next section).

Accept an account transfer

This process is to be completed by the new sponsor of the account.

If someone has transferred sponsorship of an account to you via the Account Sponsorship Application, you will be notified by email and see a banner on the homepage of the Account Sponsorship Application.

  1. On the ASA homepage, click on the notification about the pending transfer at the top of the page.

  2. Select the checkboxes of the accounts you wish to accept/deny and then click Accept or Deny depending on what you would like to do.

    1. If you deny the transfer, the account sponsorship will return to the previous sponsor.

Assign a delegate for an account

The Account Sponsorship allows you to assign an individual as your delegate. A delegate is given full control to act on your behalf in the Account Sponsorship Application. They are able to sponsor new accounts and modify existing accounts. By selecting someone as your delegate, you are giving them the ability to manage your accounts.

  1. On the ASA homepage, select Preferences and Information.

  2. Enter the NetID of the delegate you wish to designate and click Confirm.
