Verifying Your Identity with Trusona via the NetID Website
If you do not have a password recovery method, you will need to verify your identity through Trusona, our identity verification service. You will be asked to use your phone to scan an official ID, like a driver’s license or passport. The following steps will walk you through the entire process.
Navigate to netid.uconn.edu
Click on Reset under Password Reset
Enter your NetID and Date of Birth when prompted.
On the next screen you will be given the option to verify your identity with Trusona.
Enter your mobile phone number (Landlines will not work, this requires a phone with a camera)
Select the ID type from the dropdown menu.
Click “Verify with Trusona”
Within a few moments you will receive a text message with a link, click on that link.
An instructions screen will also pop up on the NetID website. Do NOT close the website.
The first page you are brought to is the instructions, telling you that you will need to scan the back of your license as pictured. Click “Continue”.
The next page informs you that you will be prompted for camera access. Click “Let’s Begin”
When prompted, click “Allow Access”, or the equivalent on your device, to allow Trusona to access your camera.
Point your camera at the back of your ID. Once the scan is complete you will get a confirmation page.
If your ID is verified properly, you will see that the NetID website confirms that your ID was verified. Click “Finish Verification” if you are not automatically redirected.
If your ID verification fails for any reason, you will instead be prompted to schedule a call with an employee at the TSC so that we can assist with a manual password reset.
At this point you will be prompted to set your password recovery options and then create a new password. In the future you can use your password recovery options to reset your password instead of Trusona.
