New Atlassian Navigation
Students, faculty, and staff who are licensed in Atlassian will see a new website layout in Jira, Confluence, and Assets. Atlassian has updated the navigation structure across all of their products. The required change will be enabled on July 3, 2025.
With the new layout, most navigation buttons, which were along the top bar, will shift to a new persistent side bar. The bulk of these changes are to Jira and Jira Service Management. While changes to Confluence are largely cosmetic, there are significant changes to switching between spaces or projects, as well as changes to project administration.
For assistance with the navigation changes, please email techsupport@uconn.edu, and it will be routed to the appropriate team.

Tips for the new Jira navigation
The “Recent” menu option in the sidebar can be useful for users who typically work in one space or project. The Recent section contains recently visited projects, issues, and dashboards for quick access.
The Starred section contains any filters and dashboards favorited by the user. Both contain a dedicated search bar to further refine options.Projects no longer have their own landing page. Specific features in the project such as queues, reports, customers, etc., will instead be expanded in the side bar when selecting a project. Clicking on a specific feature will change the primary page, but the sidebar will remain open.
Project settings are in a new location and can be accessed by clicking the three dots to the right of the project name and then selecting “Project Settings.” The project settings layout is similar to the old settings page once it has been opened.
The persistent search bar at the top of the page can be used to locate projects, issues, shared items, and settings. If you’re unable to find something in its usual location, try searching for it. Once you’ve found the item, you can locate it again from the Recent section on the sidebar, or star it for easy access in the Starred section.
Search can also be accessed with the Ctrl +K keyboard shortcutThe Project navigation can be cluttered for users with access to a large number of projects. This can be the case with Jira Software users. ITS recommends that you use browser favorites and the search bar to visit your most used pages.
