Tags
Only Available to Calendar Admins
Think of Tags as additional categories to organize your events. They should not be used like hashtags, so please do not add a long list of related words and variations.
Instead, strategically plan out Tags which help you organize your content and aid users in narrowing down events of interest. Tags can also be used to create specific feeds of events on UConn websites.
Examples
The Department of Literatures, Cultures, and Languages might create tags for each program within the department, including Chinese, German Studies, and Italian.
Every sporting event is assigned an Event Type of Athletics & Recreation. Games for football are then tagged Football, so users can more easily find just football events.
The Writing Center offers a series of tutoring events. They assign an Event Type of Academic Support and add a Tag for Tutoring. They can use these fields to feed tutoring-only events on the tutoring page of their website.
Global Tags
Global Tags are added by our system admins and available to all calendar administrators in the system. They are typically limited to topics/words that we believe will be useful to multiple units/calendars.
If you have a tag that would be useful to others, please share it with us by emailing eventscalendar@uconn.edu.
Calendar-Level Tags
Calendar administrators can create tags that are only available for their own calendar.
Starred Tags
If you ‘star’ tags in your calendar, they will be displayed on your calendar’s main page.
Example
The Mathematics Department starred their tag, Algebra Seminar.
When there are upcoming events marked with this tag, it will now show on the Mathematics Department’s calendar [https://events.uconn.edu/mathematics-department/] under Tags.
Starred Tags will only show if there are events marked with the tag. If there are no events marked with Algebra Seminar, it will not show on the group’s events page.
Date & Time
Required Field
An Event Date is required for all events and will remain red until a date has been selected.
Please note the Start Time of your event when appropriate.
Additional Options
Only Available to Calendar Admins
All Day
Checking the All Day box will remove the Start Time field from your event.
Add Ending Date & Time
Checking this box will add Ending Date and Time fields to your event.
Multi-Day Events – If you check the All Day field, the next box will convert to just Add Ending Date. You can then note the starting and ending dates of an event, without having to specify hours. This is a great option for multi-day events like HuskyWOW and conferences.
Repeating Event
Check the Repeating Event box to create a customized repeating pattern for your event. Options include:
Daily
Every weekday (Monday to Friday)
Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday
Every Tuesday and Thursday
Weekly
Monthly
Yearly
Repeating Event Tips
You can set an end date or limit the repetition to a certain number of occurrences.
Look for additional settings that appear under the Weekly, Monthly, and Yearly options that allow you to customize your event.
If your repeating event series doesn't end exactly on the date you've selected, the series will instead end on the closest date to the one you've selected without going past it.
Summary
Only Available to Calendar Admins
The Event Summary is displayed prominently in event listings, allowing users to quickly identify events they might be interested in. For quick comprehension, please limit summaries to 1-2 sentences.
See the Event Description field for more space to share expanded details about your event.
Location
Locations are buildings, common spaces, theaters, athletic fields, outdoor spaces, and more.
Key UConn Locations have been preloaded into the Events Calendar for quality purposes and ease of use. You can find these locations by simply beginning to type in the name of the location.
Add New Location
Only Available to Calendar Admins
If your event’s Location has not been preloaded into the Events Calendar, but you think it would be a useful location for the community, please email eventscalender@uconn.edu to make a request.
Calendar administrators can also choose to add a new location for their events and calendar.
Room Number or Location Detail
Please use this field to specify the room number, room name, or additional location details for your event.
Reservations are required for most spaces. Please visit the EMS scheduling system or check with the appropriate department.

This Group Only (i.e. Admins/Users logged into your calendar)
