Reset the OneDrive App

Faculty, Staff, and Students who are experiencing issues with OneDrive or SharePoint on a computer may follow this guide to reset the OneDrive App. Resetting the app will help to resolve sync issues between your computer and the cloud.

Windows

  1. On your keyboard, press Windows + R to open the Run window.

  2. Copy and paste the follow code into the window: %localappdata%\Microsoft\OneDrive\onedrive.exe /reset

  3. Click Okay. If you receive an error, try the following command: C:\Program Files\Microsoft OneDrive\onedrive.exe /reset

  4. Click Okay. If you receive an error, try the following command: C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft OneDrive\onedrive.exe /reset

  5. The OneDrive icon will disappear and then reappear.

  6. Open the OneDrive app and sign in with you UConn email address and NetID password.

  7. Allow your computer some time to re-synchronize itself with the cloud.

Mac

  1. Find and click on the OneDrive icon (gray or blue cloud icon) in the top menu bar of your Mac’s screen.

  2. Click on the Settings wheel, then click Quit OneDrive.

  3. Once the app has closed, open a Finder window.

  4. In the left menu, click Applications.

  5. While holding Control on the keyboard, click on OneDrive in the list.

  6. Choose Show Package Contents.

  7. Navigate to the Contents folder, then the Resources folder.

  8. Double-click on “ResetOneDriveAppStandalone.command”

    1. If you’re using the App Store version of the app (not recommended), double-click on “ResetOneDriveApp.command”

  9. Open OneDrive and follow the first-time setup.

    1. Allow your computer some time to resynchronize itself with the cloud.
