Distribution Lists (aka Distribution Groups)

Faculty and staff can use distribution lists to reach a large group of people by sending a message to a distribution address. The distribution address sends the email to the recipients indicated by the faculty or staff member.

This resource differs from mass email, which is a service that allows faculty and staff to reach a large group of people by sending the message to recipients through an alternative server. This service prevents the message from being flagged by Office 365’s spam filters.

This resource differs from listserv, which is the original and industry-standard email list management software. With listserv, a user can send a single email to a list. Listserv copies that email and sends it to everyone subscribed to that particular list.
