Outlook Autodiscover Fix for Non-domain PCs
If you have recently installed Office 2016 on a personal laptop or other device that is not connected to the business domain an additional step is required to properly configure Outlook 2016 so it will connect the business.uconn.edu Exchange servers.
Updating the registry to resolve problems with Outlook 2016 autodiscover
Download the registry key below or manually create it using the steps below.
Create a registry key to import
- Open a new document in notepad. Please note: notepad or similar ascii text editor is required to prevent errors.
- Paste the preformatted text below into the new .txt document
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Outlook\AutoDiscover]
"ExcludeHttpsRootDomain"=dword:00000001
- Save the document as outlook.reg.
- Close the document you just created as outlook.reg.
Importing the Outlook.reg key.
- Double click on outlook.reg txt file you downloaded or manually created to import the value into the registry.
- Click Yes when prompted by User Access Control.
- Click Yes to continue.
- Click OK to confirm the key imported correctly.
