Obtain the download link from your professor or https://resources.business.uconn.edu. This will be provided when the class starts and will not be available to students who are not actively taking a class that requires SAS.

Use “SAS on demand” or OVD for skill refreshers or for an introduction to the application.

The download should take roughly 15 minutes at 24MB/s.

Before you begin: it is recommended that you apply all pending Windows updates, disable any Internet Security Suites and update Java JRE to the latest version. If you do not have Java installed download it from https://java.com/en/download/.

Extracting the SAS-9CBYDR-Studio2024.zip file

The downloaded SAS file will initially be downloaded to your machine as a .zip file. In order to proceed with the rest of the guide, it will need to be extracted.

Click on the option to “Extract All” that should appear along the top of your File Explorer window. If you do not see this option when you select the .zip file, you may need to click on the ellipsis (three dots), also highlighted below, to see the “Extract All” option.

  1. In the resulting window, note the location the .zip file will be extracted to. You will need to go to that location on your computer in order to locate the “setup.exe” file. Click Next >.

  1. Click Next >.

  1. Click Start.

  1. The installation process moves 20GB of Installer files from the SAS Software Depot to the local SAS Home. The files are staged, uncompressed, and installed. The process requires a high-speed network (Ethernet) and several hours.

Special Considerations

SAS and the UConn School of Business do not have previous knowledge of your system, Operating System build number, patch level or which applications you may have installed. SAS is a large complex application and may not install reliable on all devices, even if they meet the hardware requirements. Students are asked to self-support their own SAS installations. and may find additional information here:

https://support.sas.com/kb/48/928.html

If you continue to have difficulty it is recommended that you fully uninstall SAS, restart your device, download the installer archive again and carefully follow the installation instructions.

If you are unable to install SAS you will be directed to use the OPIM Virtual Desktop.
