The New Webex Events is currently in Beta until May 11th (anticipated). If you do not have Beta access, please reach out to daj@uconn.edu. Your participants do not need to be part of the beta program.
After you initiate the Event, even if there are attendees in the Event, you may begin a Practice Session that will include all the Panelists and exclude the Attendees. Once the Practice Session has started, all Participants will have a dark yellow banner across the top of their Event window informing them that the Practice Session is in progress. Panelists are free to talk and share webcams and content while the Attendees will see and hear nothing. Attendees will only see circles with the Panelists' initials in them; exactly as if the Panelists had their cameras muted.
- The Practice Session is not a separate Webex session. The "Practice Session" implements a temporary barrier between the Panelists and the Attendees so the Panelists may converse in private. It does not change the functionality of the Event.
- Sharing Content
- Content sharing will stop when you enter and leave the Practice Session.
- You may begin sharing content during the Practice Session and cease the sharing during the Practice session and the Attendees will be none the wiser.
- Begin your Event
- Click on the ellipsis button (...) that sits next to the red X at the bottom of the window. Choose Start Practice Session.
Once it has begun, all Participants will see the banner across the top of the window informing them that the Practice Session is in progress.
Notice that the Record button has disappeared and Start live streaming is unavailable during the Practice Session
- Attendees and Panelists are free to join the Event while the Practice Session is in progress. Panelists will join directly into the Practice Session and be able to communicate.
- You may send chat messages to the Attendees while in the Practice Session.
- To leave the Practice Session, click on the End button within the yellow banner.
