This article outlines the two methods for UConn Instructors to convert their HuskyCT “Original” courses to “Ultra.”
Overview
There are 2 approaches that instructors can take in converting a previous term’s Original course (ie Fall 2023) into an upcoming Ultra course (ie Fall 2024).
Bulk conversion: Converts the entire Original course including all content, files, and assessments into the upcoming Ultra course.
Manual rebuild: Rebuild the organizational structure in the Ultra course, then populate modules/folders by selecting and copy course items from the Original version.
Which method you should use depends on a variety of factors such as:
Whichever method you select, it is recommended that you perform a comprehensive side-by-side review of your Original and Ultra course, post conversion prior to the start of your course.
Nothing will change with the older version, nothing will be lost and you will be able to easily access those materials.

Bulk Conversion Overview
This method will transfer and convert all course content, files, links, materials, folders, tools, discussions, assessments, and Grade Center columns from the Original version of a course into a new Ultra version.
Depending on course complexity or folder depth, Blackboard or 3rd Party tools used, this method can transfer over elements which will be problematic and require varying degrees of mitigation.
If your Original Course has a very simple design and does not contain a wide variety of tools, (ie, there are only folders, files, and assignments) - Bulk Conversion may be a perfectly good option for you.
