These instructions only apply to courses using the Original Course View. If you are using Ultra in your destination course, use the Ultra course copy instructions instead.
HuskyCT Admins will happily copy your course content for you, but if you would like to do it yourself, follow the instructions below. If you would only like to copy some of your content to another course, use these instructions instead.
Please note that the course copy process will append content to your course. It does not overwrite or replace existing content. Therefore, we do not recommend that you use these steps a second time or you will end up with duplicate content in your course. To copy content after the course copy has been performed, use the Copying Content instructions.
Enter the course that has the content that you wish to copy.
Click Course Management → Packages and Utilities → Course Copy.
If you know the Course ID (not the course name) of the course you want to copy the content into, paste it into the field labeled Destination Course ID.
If you do not know the Course ID, search for the course.
Click Browse next to the Course ID field.
Use the search function to find your course.
Choose the radio box next to the course that has the content you want to copy.
Click Submit.
Click Select All. If you do not want your old announcements copied over, uncheck the Announcements box. If you do not want to copy discussion board starter posts, click the Include only the forums, with no starter posts radio button.
Note: Discussion forums will be copied regardless of the option that you pick here. The top option, "Include starter posts for each thread in each forum (anonymized)," generally consists of student replies unless you have specifically configured your discussion board differently. If unsure, choose the second option as described above.Click Copy links and copies of the content (include entire course home folder). If you do not choose this option, files that are linked in a document may not be copied over.
If you are only copying course tools, such as Discussion Board or Announcements, use the second option: Copy links and copies of the content.
Click Submit.
Do not click Include Enrollments in the Copy, or you will copy over all the students from your old course to your new course. Enrollments of courses that are imported from PeopleSoft are managed automatically through the integration with PeopleSoft.
Once you complete the course copy, compare the destination course with the source course to ensure that all content was copied properly. It is much more difficult to redo a course copy once students have started submitting data.
If you have a SCORM package in the course, you need to check the box for Include Package Information or the SCORM package will not copy properly.
The video below briefly walks through the process of performing a standard course copy.
