This article is intended for instructors looking to configure HuskyCT Ultra Test Options.

This article assumes you have already created a test. For more information on creating tests in Ultra, see Creating and Administering Tests in HuskyCT Ultra Course View.

Some settings are only available if the test uses questions, such as Multiple Choice or Essay questions.

Details and Information

Test Without Questions

Test with Questions

A. Due Date

  • Default: 24 hours after the test is created

  • Any submissions after this date will be marked as Late

B. Prohibit Late Submission

Similar to Force Completion, instructors are advised against using Prohibit Late Submission as it may prevent a student who experienced a technical issue from going back into the exam

  • Default: Off

  • Attempts will be submitted at the due date and time

  • Similar to Force Complete in Original Course View

C. Prohibit New Attempts after due date

This setting may prevent students who need to take the exam at a later date from taking the exam

  • Default: Off

  • Prevents a student from starting a new attempt after the due date

D. Allow Class Conversation

  • Default: Off

  • Creates a Discussion board like space for students to interact that is specific to the test

E. Display one question at a time

This setting is only available if the test has questions.

  • Default with questions: Off

  • Default without questions: Disabled

  • Shows only one question at a time to students

F. Randomize Questions

This setting is only available if the test has questions.

  • Default with questions: Off

  • Default without questions: Disabled

  • Questions appear in random order for students

G. Randomize Answers

This setting is only available if the test has questions.

  • Default with questions: Off

  • Default without questions: Disabled

  • Multiple choice and matching answers are randomized for students

H. Collect Submissions Offline

This setting is only available if the test doesn’t have questions.

  • Default without questions: Off

  • Default with questions: Disabled

  • Indicated instructors will collect a physical paper containing the answers and manually enter grades

Grading and Submissions

Test Without Questions

Test with Questions

A. Grade Category

  • Default: Test

  • Gradebook category that the test is calculated in

B. Attempts Allowed

  • Default: 1

  • Number of times students can take the test

  • If multiple attempts are allowed, instructors must also configure which attempt counts for the student in the Gradebook

C. Grade using

  • Default: Point

  • The grade that will appear in Gradebook

D. Maximum points

  • Default: 100 or the total of the points assigned to each question

  • Total possible points a student can earn on the test

E. Anonymous Grading

This setting is only available if the test doesn’t have questions.

  • Default without questions: Off

  • Default with questions: Disabled

  • Prevents instructors from knowing who’s test they are grading

  • Student names become visible after posting all grades

F. Parallel Grading

This setting is only available if the test doesn’t have questions.

  • Default without questions: Off

  • Default with questions: Disabled

  • Requires 2 graders for each student attempt

  • Similar to Delegated Grading in Original Course View

G. Peer Review

This setting is only available if the test doesn’t have questions.

  • Default without questions: Off

  • Default with questions: Disabled

  • Can’t be enabled alongside Anonymous Grading

  • Allows students to evaluate their peers submission

  • Students review submissions and the average of the student score is assigned as a grade

  • Similar to a Self and Peer Assessment in Original Course View

H. Post assessment grades automatically

  • Default: On

  • Eliminates the need for instructors to manually Post Grades for the test

  • Grades will be visible to students automatically once the test is graded

A. Submission View

This setting is only available if the test has questions.

  • Default with Questions: After submission

  • Default without questions: Disabled

  • Controls when students can view their test submission

B. Automated Question Feedback

This setting is only available if the test has questions.

  • Default with questions: After Submission

  • Default without questions: Disabled

  • Controls when students can view instructor written automatic feedback for the questions

C. Question Scores

This setting is only available if the test has questions.

  • Default with questions: After all grades are posted

  • Default without questions: Disabled

  • Controls when students can see the scores for each of the test questions

D. Correct Answers

This setting is only available if the test has questions.

  • Default with questions: Never

  • Default without questions: Disabled

  • Controls when students can see correct answers

Assessment Security

A. Access Code

  • Default: None

  • Allows instructors to require students to use a passcode to access the exam

  • If enabled, a passcode will be randomly generated by HuskyCT

  • Instructors can generate a new passcode by click the “refresh” icon to the right of the passcode

B. Respondus

  • Default: Not Required

  • Allows instructors to require Lockdown Browser or use remote or live proctoring to administer online exams

A. Time Limit

  • Default: None

  • Allows instructors to set a timer, during which the test must be complete

  • Similar to the Timer in Original Course View

  • Instructor can also chose to require the attempt be submitted at the end of time, similar to Auto-submit in Original Course View

B. Use Grading Rubric

This setting is only available if the test doesn’t have questions.

  • Default without questions: None

  • Default with questions: Disabled

  • Allows instructors to attached a rubric for scoring the test

C. Goals and standards

  • Default: None

  • Assign the exam to a goal or standard

D. Assigned groups

This setting is only available if the test doesn’t have a time limit

  • Default: Not Assigned to groups

  • Used to create a group test

  • Similar to a group Assignment in Original Course View

E. Originality Report

  • Default: No

  • Essay question submissions are submitted to SafeAssign for review
