Students and Faculty in STEM majors can get Microsoft Visio and Project through Azure Dev Tools for Education.
These instructions are for STEM students and faculty installing Visio or Project. This software can only be used for academic research and teaching. Staff members will need to purchase a license through their department here: https://software.uconn.edu/microsoft-software-order-form/
Signing into Azure Dev Tools
- Navigate to the Azure page on the UConn software website.
- If you meet the software requirements, select I meet the eligibility requirements above and you will be redirected to a Microsoft website to activate Azure.
- Select Sign in and sign in using your UConn email and NetID password. You may be asked to enter and verify your phone number.
Downloading Visio Professional
If you have a version of Office installed, it must be compatible with the version Visio or the install will not be completed. Visio should be compatible with the Office 365 applications included with your UConn licensing.
- From the Education section of the Azure website, select Software in the left menu and search for "Visio". If you were not redirected to the Education page, use the search bar at the top of the Azure website to find it.
- Select the version of Visio you wish to install and select Generate URL. Paste this URL into your address bar and a .iso file will begin downloading.
This file is large ~3GB and may take some time to download. - Open the download and double click the Setup.exe file to begin the install. If using a 64bit operating system you will need to use the 64 bit installer when prompted.
Downloading Microsoft Project Professional
Microsoft Project is only available for Windows. No MacOS version is available.
- From the Education section of the Azure website, select Software in the left menu and search for "Project". If you were not redirected to the Education page, use the search bar at the top of the Azure website to find it.
- Select the version of Project you wish to install and choose Generate URL. Paste this URL into your address bar and a .iso file will begin downloading.
