Faculty, students, and staff can use the UConn VPN on machines they do not have admin permissions for.

You should only use this method if you cannot install the full Pulse Secure Client found on the UConn Software Catalog

Installing Pulse VPN

To get direct access, you must first connect to UConn VPN.

  1. Navigate to the Microsoft Store.
    1. Click the Start symbol in the bottom corner of your screen.
    2. Enter Store in the search box. 
    3. Select Microsoft Store from the search results.

  2. Search for Pulse Secure in the Microsoft Store. 
  3. Click Get

  4. If prompted to log in, click on No Thanks.
  5. After installation, navigate to your VPN Settings.

  6. Click on Add VPN Connection.
  7. Select the Pulse Secure option from the VPN Provider field.
    1. Use a label of your choice for the Connection Name
    2. Enter https://vpn.uconn.edu for the Server Name

  8. Click Save.
  9. Click Connect.
  10. Enter your NetID and password when prompted to do so.

If you receive the message shown in the image below, this means the connection requires Duo Two-Factor Authentication and will not work using the above method. You will need to install the full Pulse Secure Client to connect.
