This article is intended for UConn students, faculty, and staff who are trying to add captions to videos in Kaltura.

If you used a transcript to create the video, you can use Kaltura's Alignment Service to create captions

To Caption Individual Videos

  1. Go to HuskyCT and click on My Kaltura Media, or go to Mediaspace, click on Guest and click "My Media" to log in.
  2. Click on the title of the video that you wish to add captioning to.
  3. Below the video on the right-hand side, click “Actions” and select “Caption and Enrich”.

The “Mechanical 70 to 80%” option is the only option currently configured, and is free of charge.  Be sure to edit the captions after they're created so they're ADA compliant which is close to 99% accurate.

  4. Click on "Submit" to confirm your selection and the captions should be added within 30 minutes.  You will receive an email when they're complete.
  5. Once your captions are complete, follow this guide to learn how to edit them.
