This document and video cover instructions on how to students connect with instructors in HuskyCT using the video conference tool called Blackboard Collaborate Ultra.

Students can participate with video and audio using the Blackboard app on their phones but cannot share their screen. Instructors and Students cannot use the iPad to share their screen using Collaborate.

Using Blackboard Collaborate Ultra As A Student

  1. Go to your course in HuskyCT and click on Blackboard Collaborate Ultra when your instructor has indicated they will be in the virtual room. 
     


  2. It may be the Course Room or another session instructors created, such as Office Hours.


  3. Click on the room you need to join and click Join Room.
  4. Once connected, make sure your microphone, speaker, and camera are setup properly. You can test them in the Settings Panel by clicking on the Collaborate Panel Menu (bottom right) and click on the Settings Panel.
     

  5. If your audio isn't working, you can dial in using your cell phone.  It is a toll call.  
  6. Or you can click on setup your camera and microphone and follow the instructions.


  7. Once your audio and camera are working, click on the microphone to start your audio and optionally click on the camera.
  8. You can chat with Everyone by clicking on the Chat Panel in the Collaborate Panels Menu
  9. You can raise your hand if you have a question.
  10. You can click on the profile icon to indicate how you're feeling to the instructor.

Accessing Recorded Collaborate Sessions

  1. Go to your course in HuskyCT and click on Blackboard Collaborate Ultra. 
     


  2. Click on the Collaborate Menu in the upper left corner (three white lines)

  3. Click Recordings and find the recording you need.  Click it to watch it.
