Commander Administration Software
There may be installation issues with SmartScreen. Run the installer as an administrator.
The server contains a web interface for remote browser-based access. If the firewall is opened between the keybox server and another computer, then the user can access the browser-based administration portal from their local machine.

The Commander install process should add the SQL Server Express database as well.
Obtain the Commander license from Deister, and if it is to be integrated with Genetec, ensure that the version is compatible with the Genetec plugin.
Adding an Unassigned Key
In the web portal, under the keyTags tab, click the Create keyTag subtab.
Fill in the “keyTag display name” field. Do not include special characters. This will be how the keyTag is displayed in the terminal for users. This will add the keyTag into the Unassigned KeyTags section on the left of the screen and make it available to be assigned in the terminal. Then go under the Terminal tab and change the cabinet to the correct cabinet you want to assign the keyTag to and select the Position (slot) into which you want the keyTag to go into.
If there are any keyTags remaining in the Unassigned keyTags list, this will likely cause the database sync between Deister and Genetec to fail. After keyTags are added, they should immediately be assigned.

Genetec Management and Integration
Integration with Genetec allows user access to keys and the key cabinet by Genetec instead of having to maintain access separately in Deister Commander. The Genetec plugin and license have to match a compatible version of Deister Commander. Verify versions of both software before purchasing licenses.
The Deister web services module allows Deister to allow bi-directional communication with Genetec to happen. This is included with the Deister regular license.
A Genetec plugin is required to be installed on the Genetec server, and a license is required for it. Minuteman Security performed configuration on the Genetec server including installation of the plugin.
A different Genetec plugin needs to be installed on every client machine that connects to the Genetec server as well.
