Faculty, staff, and students may create SharePoint sites . SharePoint is integrated with the Teams App, and you can create a SharePoint site in Teamsin order to store departmental and group data.

Creating Your Site
The site creation button has moved, and this guide reflects the change. SharePoint sites are created through Teams.

Visit Teams
You may either open the Teams App on your computer or
Navigate to https://teams.microsoft.com/v2/
In the left-hand menu, click on Teams.
Note: if this button brings you directly to a team, click on < All teams in the top-left corner.
In the top-right corner, click on Join or create team then click Create team.
Choose a template for your team.
These are simply layout templates; they all have the same features once the team is created.Choose the Private privacy level.

Be sure to choose Private for your team’s privacy setting. If it is set to public, anyone at the university will be able to view/edit/delete the team’s files. |

Give your team a name. Be sure to create a specific and/or unique name.
You may find yourself with many teams in the future; set yourself up with distinguishable teams now, and you’ll be thanking yourself later!

Add others to your team and set their privilege (owner vs member).
Members can add/edit/create/delete files
Owners can do the above and add/remove Members
Be sure to add at least one other Owner to your site. They will be able to assist in administrative tasks if you are away.

Your SharePoint site is up and running!

To view your SharePoint site in the browser, click on the Files tab in your Teams window.

You may create and edit your files in this window, or you may continue on to view them at the SharePoint website.
Click on the ellipsis in the File tab’s menu bar. Then click on Open in SharePoint.

SharePoint is integrated with the Teams App, and you can create a SharePoint site in Teams in order to combine your file storage with all of the features of Teams.

Your SharePoint can be connected to Teams at any point after creation.
If you would like to create a SharePoint that is not connected to a Teams team, you can do so using Outlook. Your SharePoint will not be accessible through Teams.
