You may record a Webex session without recording any webcam video. This setting must be set before the session begins, and must be changed again if you would like to record video in a future session. This is a useful feature when working with minors or otherwise confidential participants.

Switching to Audio-Only Before your Session
Before the session (Meeting) starts, you need the change the recorder's layout. Navigate to UConn Webex and sign in using your NetID
Go to
PreferencesPreferences in the left-hand menu.
Click
onRecording.
In Recording Layout,
chosechoose the last
two options foroption in each row.
Content-only view
- Black view
Blank view
Save your recording layout and then press Home in the top left of the Webex website.
Use this website to begin your Meeting to ensure your new settings will be applied. If you do not see your Meeting listed on the Home page, click View all meetings near the bottom of the page.
The Desktop App syncs settings (checks for changes) at regular intervals, so it may not be updated at the time you want to begin your session. For this reason, we recommend that you begin the session from the website.

For this process, you do not need the paid version.
Download, install, and open GoldWave. Close the Introduction box if it pops up.
Click File → Open.
Navigate to and open the .mp4 file that you downloaded (your Webex recording).
You will now see the waveform of the recording.
Click File → Save As.
Save the file as an appropriate audio file type; .mp3 is recommended.
Extract Audio on a Mac Computer
Download your Recording (or other video).
Open QuickTime and open the recording.
Click on File → Export → Audio Only...
Give the file a name and choose where to save it.
Click Save.
