You InfoAssist users can join two or more related data sources (also referred to as tables) to create a larger pool of fields from which you can select for your report. The joined structure is a virtual . It is a way of accessing multiple data sources as if they were a single data source.

Joining Tables 

  1. Either open

    Open an existing report or create a new report. 

    1. If creating a new report,

    opening

  2. Once the correct table is selected, click Open.  

  3. From within the report, click

    Click the Data tab, and then click Join

    In the Join dialog box, click Add New.

    In the Open dialog box, select a second table.  

  6. Click Open.

      Notice

     Notice the Join dialog box will display with two tables at this point.

  7. Identify the common field of data in both tables.

      For

     For example, EMPLID is the common field of data found in both tables used in the screenshots of this documentation.  

  8. Left-click the field name in the first table and hold to ensure the data remains selected.

  9. Drag the selected data to the second table, releasing the left-click once the data from the first table is over the matching field name of data in the second table.

  10. Notice the arrow between the two tables, indicating the join is successful.

  11. Right-click in the middle of the red arrow to display a menu of options.  

  12. Click Edit from the list of available options.

  13. From the Edit Join dialog box, confirm the selections from the Instances and Type dropdown menus are accurate for your Join.

  14. Click OK.  

  15. To confirm your two tables have been joined, navigate to the left data pane from the main report view. 

  16. Click the arrow to expand the list of field names in the first table.

  17. Scroll down to the bottom of the left data pane to locate the second table.

  18. To build the report, select the appropriate field(s) from either table,
