This article explains how any Teams meeting participant can record a video of the meeting.

Click on the ellipsis in the bottom bar of the meeting.

Select Start recording.

Once the meeting is being recorded, a banner will appear alerting every participant.

Select the option Stop recording when you wish to end the recording.

Click Stop recording.

The meeting recording will now save to Microsoft Stream. This may take a few minutes.

Once it has saved, you can view the video in the meeting chat. To open the meeting chat, you can click on the text bubble icon on the right of the menu bar.

To access the video later, there are several options. To get a shareable link, click Get link. To download the file from Microsoft Stream, click Open in Microsoft Stream.

Teams meetings can be recorded by any presenter. By default, everyone in the meeting is listed as a presenter and has the ability to record. The default settings also start automatic transcripts when recording is started.

Starting a Recording

  1. While in a Teams meeting, click on the More icon in the top menu.

  2. Click Start recording.

  3. Recording and transcription will start automatically.

  4. Recording will stop when the meeting ends. To stop the recording earlier, click the More icon and Stop recording.

  5. Recordings automatically save. It may take a few minutes for meeting recordings to be processed.

  6. Once the recording has been saved it will be posted in the meeting chat and available to all participants.

  7. Recordings can be shared with others or saved in OneDrive or SharePoint for long term storage.

Note

Meeting recordings are deleted after 60 days. You can keep recordings longer by Change Expiration Date of Microsoft Teams Recordings.

All other members of the meeting from the same tenant as the organizer have read access.
All other external members have no access, and the Organizer must share it to them.

All other members of the meeting from the same tenant as the organizer have read access.

Every other member’s permissions are based on the Channel SharePoint permissions.
