This article shows explains how instructors how to can access student attempts on assessments in the Ultra Course View.

Overview:

  • In Ultra, accessing attempts can be done instructors and TAs can access assessment attempts through the Gradebook or within Course Content via the assignmentAssessment link.

  • Within the The Gradebook Overview tab, you are able to see grades that “Needs posting” or “Needs grading.”and Gradable Items tabs, display attempts that Need Grading.

  • There are different methods to locate, filter, and sort attempts while for grading.

Here you are able to see assignments and assessments that need to be graded or posted. To begin
  1. From Overview, you can see a list of assessment items that require grading. To start grading, click Grade now for any assignment. This will bring you to the grading page.

Once in
  1. From the grading page you are able to grade and view all students' submissions. Here, you can adjust the student’s grade, give them feedback, delete their attempt, and toggle between other student’s attempts.

titleAccessing Attempts from Gradable Items

Student attempts can be accessed through Gradable items. The advantage of Gradable items is you that you are able to see more grading information (i.e., missing, graded, posted) and access assignments all in one place.

To begin, navigate to the Gradebook.

Click on Gradable items.

You will now see the gradable items page that provides information about the assignment/assessments.

By clicking on any assignment, you will be able to access the Submissions page.

If you click on a student’s name, a sidebar will open. To view the student’s attempt, select Attempt #

Here, you can adjust the student’s grade, give them feedback, delete their attempt, and toggle between other student’s attempts.

title▼ Accessing Multiple Attempts

Instructors can allow an assignment to have multiple attempts, accessing the different attempts can be done on the submissions grading page.

To begin, navigate to the Gradebook.

You will now see the gradable items page that provides information about the assignment/assessments.

By clicking on any assignment, you will be able to access the Submissions page. Under a student submission, click on ATTEMPT #/# dropdown to view attempts.

Clicking on the attempts dropdown will allow you to see when the student submitted. To view each individual attempt, click on the specific attempt number within the dropdown.

Clicking on the attempt will change the submission you are currently grading.

Sorting Student Attempts

While on the grading page for student attempts, attempts can be sorted in various ways such as latest submission, oldest submission, or alphabetically.
