This article will show how to Faculty, students, and staff can use the UConn VPN if you are not admin of your machineon machines they do not have admin permissions for.

You should only Only use this method if you cannot install the full Pulse Secure Client found on software.uconn.edu

Install Pulse VPN

In order to get direct access, you must first connect to UConn VPN.

Note: Pulse Secure was retired on November 16th, 2022, it has been replaced with Cisco AnyConnect. 

  1. Navigate to the Microsoft Store.

    1. Click the Start symbol in the bottom corner of your screen.

    2. Enter “Store” in the search box. 

    3. Select Microsoft Store from the search results.

  2. Search for Pulse Secure in the Microsoft Store. 

  3. Click Get

  4. If prompted to log in, click No Thanks.

  5. After installation, navigate to your VPN Settings.

  6. Click Add VPN Connection.

  7. Select the Pulse Secure

    2. Enter https://vpn.uconn.edu

  2. Click Connect.

  3. Enter your NetID and password when prompted to do so.

If you receive the following message shown in the image below, this means the connection requires Duo Two-Factor Authentication and will not work using this the above method.   Please You will need to install the full Pulse Secure Client to connect.
