These instructions only apply to courses using the Original Course View. If you are using Ultra in your destination course, use the Ultra course copy instructions instead.
HuskyCT Admins will happily copy your course content for you, but if you would like to do it yourself, follow the instructions below. If you would only like to copy some of your content to another course, use these instructions instead.
Standard Course Copy
This standard course copy option is recommended for most users. If you do not know which instruction set to use, use this onePlease note that the course copy process will append content to your course. It does not overwrite or replace existing content. Therefore, we do not recommend that you use these steps a second time or you will end up with duplicate content in your course. To copy content after the course copy has been performed, use the Copying Content instructions.
Enter the course that has the content that you wish to copy.
Click Course Management → Packages and Utilities → Course Copy.
If you know the Course ID (not the course name) of the course you want to copy the content into, paste it into the field labeled Destination Course ID.
If you do not know the Course ID, search for the course.
Click Browse next to the Course ID field.
Use the search function to find your course.

Click Select All. If you do not want your old announcements copied over, uncheck the Announcements box. If you do not want to copy discussion board starter posts, click the Include only the forums, with no starter posts radio button.
...
Note: Discussion forums will be copied regardless of the option that you pick here. The top option, "Include starter posts for each thread in each forum (anonymized)," generally consists of student replies unless you have specifically configured your discussion board differently. If unsure, choose the second option as described above.

Do not click "Include Enrollments in the Copy" , or you will copy over all the students from your old course to your new course. Enrollments of courses that are imported from PeopleSoft are managed automatically through the integration with PeopleSoft. Consequently, this option should not be used! |

Do not make any changes to your course until you see the blue banner or receive the copy complete email, or you could interfere with the copy process.
Once you complete the course copy, it is important to compare the destination course with the source course to ensure that all the content was copied properly. It is significantly much more difficult to redo a course copy once students have started submitting data.

Additional Course Copy Options
HuskyCT admins recommend the above standard course copy for almost all users. However, if you have a specific need for one of the advanced options, they are detailed below. The specific steps to perform the course copy are the same as the above. The advanced instruction set is for copying, or not copying, specific types of content during the process.

Purpose
For a non-standard course copy, you will still need to follow the basic steps outlined in the standard course copy section above. However, you have some options regarding not copying specific parts of your course into the new course.
For the most part, unchecking a box on the course copy page (pictured above), will simply result in that item not coming over. You need to be cautious using these check boxes, as some of them can have unintended side effects. When performing a normal course copy, HuskyCT admins only use the "Announcements", and "Discussion Board" check boxes, and leave all the others alone. However, if you find that you do need to change one of these check boxes for any reason, these are the ones that you need to look out for:
