Publishing Videos
Go to Kaltura.
Click on the Guest drop-down (upper right).
Click Log in. Log in with your NetID and NetID password.
The Guest field should now be replaced with your name. Click on your name.
Click My Media.

Click on the checkboxes next to the videos you wish to share.
Click Actions at the upper right of the screen.
From the drop-down menu, select Publish.

Select Unlisted from the publish page to allow anyone viewership for the video. Doing so will allow anyone you share the link with to view the content.
Click Save to update the setting.
Click Back.
To find the shareable link, go to your media page.
Click on the appropriate video.
Click Share to view the link. You can copy this link and share it with others.

Using the free and open-source software VLC Media Player (https://www.videolan.org/), you can encode an existing caption file into a video. By encoding the captions within the video file, the file can be shared and played back with captions.

Download the video file by following the instructions for Downloading Video Files from Kaltura.

After you have downloaded the video file, go back to the edit screen for the video.

Click the Captions tab.

Download the VLC Media Player if you don’t already have it installed.
Go to https://www.videolan.org/ and click Download VLC.
You will be directed to a new page. Do not click any of the ad links on the page. Wait a few seconds and the download will start.
Run the downloaded installer by clicking the file at the bottom of the screen or clicking Run when prompted.

Open VLC.

In VLC, go to the menu bar at the top of the window. Click Media > Convert/Save.

In the window that opens, click Add and find the video file you downloaded.

Then, check the box for Use a subtitle file and click Browse to find the .srt file that you downloaded from Kaltura.

Click Convert/Save.

In the new window that opens, click the Profile drop-down and select the Video - H.264 + MP3 (MP4) profile.

Click the Wrench icon next to the profile to bring up the profile settings.

Select the Audio Codec tab.

Check the box for Keep original audio track.

Select the Subtitles tab.

Check the boxes for Subtitles and Overlay subtitles on the video.

Click Save. The profile editor window will close.

Click Start.

Once the conversion has finished, go to the destination file that you chose before the conversion process to find the subtitled video.
