Eligible faculty and staff can order a new line and smartphone through Motus. The ordering process has an approval workflow. 

Note

Devices can be purchased on behalf of an eligible faculty or staff member. You will check the box "Order on behalf" during checkout (step 8).

Getting Started

  1. From the main Motus portal page, hover over New Line Orders under Shop Wireless Devices. Select AT&T or Verizon. If you want to choose T-Mobile as a carrier, contact Motus for assistance at uconn@vwpcs.com.

Wireless Products and Services

  • Smartphones: View available smartphone devices.

  • Customer Service: Redirects you to the Service Request Tool to make changes to an existing line.

  • Rate Plans: View rate plan information based on device type.

  • Coverage Map: View a map to see coverage in specific areas.

  • Order New Line For Existing Device: Redirects you to the Service Request Tool to request a new line of service for an already existing device

Ordering a Smartphone

    On this page, you can see devices that are available

    This page lists available devices, the details associated with them, and the option to add a device to your cart.

    Please note that bulk ordering is not currently available, as most users will only need to order a single device at a time

  2. Check off that you have read the disclaimer, and select Add to Order to add that device to your cart. Once you have selected a device on the previous page, you will be brought to this page with a description of your selection

  3. Here you have the option to Go Back to select another device or Continue to Checkout to move on to accessory selection. After selecting your device, you will be brought to the accessory page catered to your device.

  4. We encourage all users to order a protective case and a wall charger. To begin, select the wall charger and click Add to Cart. Similar to selecting a device, you will see a description of your accessory.

  5. You will have a few options at the bottom of the page.
    1. Go Back: to return to accessory selection
    2. Add More Accessories: to add this current accessory to your cart and return to accessory selection
    3. Continue to Checkout: to add the accessory to your cart and continue the process
  6. Select Add More Accessories, add a case to your cart. Once you have added the case, select Continue to Checkout to proceed with the order. Your shopping cart with your selected device, any selected accessories, and rate plan will be displayed. Any discounts will be automatically applied as needed.

  7. If additional accessories are needed, you can select Accessories in the top navigation bar to go back to the selection page. Your cart will still be available to review. You can return to this page using the Checkout link on the left-hand side bar. Select the Checkout button in the bottom-right corner to begin verifying employee and shipping information.Now you will proceed with entering your employee and shipping information. This is similar to ordering a product on a generic, online website.Image Removed

  9. View the available smartphones and make a selection. Click Add to Order.

  10. More information about the smartphone selected will be displayed. Review it and scroll down for the next step.

    1. Click Go Back to change your selection.

    2. Click Add Accessories to view options for your smartphone. Note: a phone case and wall charger are automatically included with your order.

    3. Click Continue To Checkout to finish your order.

  11. Once you have selected your smartphone and added any additional accessories, click Continue to Checkout.

  12. Now you will select your Voice Plan if you selected a phone through Verizon. Links provided in the Description column provide additional information. Click Add beside the plan you choose.

  13. International Calling

    1. In Verizon, the next screen shows you that Travel Pass is added. Click Continue.

    2. In AT&T, the next screen lets you add International Calling and Data from the dropdown menus. Click Continue.

  14. Review your shopping cart and click Checkout.

  15. Enter your employee information. Some of it will be auto-populated.

    check the box Order on behalf. You can use the Employee Lookup

    to search for and select an employee by name

    or type in the employee ID in the Employee ID field. This will populate the form with their information. If you have a contractor who will be using this device, you can supply the name in the Notes

  16. You have the option of keeping your existing wireless number. If you select Yes,

If you selected an employee above, this form may auto-fill with the employee's information. Provide any information as needed. There is a Business Justification box that you must complete before moving to the next page. Check off that you have read the disclaimer, and select Continue.
