When sharing an item (file or folder) with others over with OneDrive, you have the option to set an expiration date for on the link to that the shared fileitem. After the expiration date, users that the file was shared those with the link with will no longer have access when they try to access the file via the link.

Tip

In order to have an expiration date on the share, you need to use the Share link option and have visibility set to Anyone. Since anyone can access the link, you may want to set a password for the share.

Finding the desired item - Windows

  1. Once you have logged into your computer and are looking at Log in to your computer. From your desktop, open File Explorer by clicking the icon, using the keyboard shortcut (Windows Key + E), or searching for it in the Start menu.

  2. Navigate to the item that you want to stop sharing.

  3. Right click on the item and look at the OneDrive options. Click on Share.

Finding the desired item - macOS

  1. Open Log in to your computer. From your desktop, open Finder by clicking on the icon or by pressing Command + Spacebar on your keyboard and searching for Finder.

  2. Navigate to the item that you want to stop sharing.

  3. Right click, or two-finger click, on the item and look at the OneDrive options. Click on Share.

  2. Choose Anyone.

  3. Click on the date field to set the date of expiration.

Tip

Since the share is set to Anyone, you may want to set a password for the share.
