Users can set up their Gmail accounts in Apple Mail on macOS.

Note

Make sure that IMAP is enabled on your Gmail account prior to attempting this procedure.

Adding a Gmail account in Apple Mail

  1. Open the Mailapplication by clicking the Mail icon in the dock or searching for "Mail"using spotlight search.

  2. Go to Mail > Add Account.

  3. Click Google.

  4. Click Continue.

  5. If prompted, authenticate the account by signing in with your Google credentials.

  6. Select the services you want to sync from your Google account. To only see email select Mail.

  7. Click Done.

Manually Adding Gmail in the Apple Mail App (IMAP)

  1. Open the Mailapplication by clicking the Mail icon in the dock or searching for "Mail"using spotlight search.

  2. Go to Mail > Add Account.

  3. Select Add Other Mail Account.

  4. Enter your e-mail address and password.

  5. Click Create.

  6. Click Next to manually configure your account.

  7. Select IMAP as the Account Type.

  8. Enter imap.gmail.com for Mail Server and your email address and password in the appropriate locations.

    1. Use IMAP port: 993.

    2. Use an SSL connection.

  9. Enter smtp.gmail.com for SMTP server, along with your e-mail and password one more time.

    1. Use SMTP port: 587.

    2. Use a TLS connection.

  10. Click Create.
